Flame Retardant Testing Methods for Wire & Cable Materials


1. Vertical flame test (VFT): This test measures the time required for the flame to spread along the length of the sample to a specific distance.    

2. Oxygen Index Test (OI): This test   measures the minimum oxygen concentration required to maintain a flame in a material.     

3. Smoke Density Test: This test measures the amount of smoke produced when a material is directly exposed to   a flame.    

4. Cone Calorimeter Test: This test measures heat release rates, smoke generation and other parameters to evaluate the performance of the material in a fire situation.
