Through the utilization of a special intercalation agent, K100 is modified into OMMT, achieving an interlayer spacing of up to 3.0nm. By blending K100 and other materials for melting intercalation in a specific proportion, the monomer is inserted between the lamellae of K100, expanding the layer spacing and causing complete dissociation into separate lamellae. These lamellae are uniformly dispersed in the material's matrix, resulting in excellent barrier properties, increased toughness, and the prevention of material dripping during combustion. The vertical combustion grade can reach UL94-V0 (T2.0mm).
Within the context of OMMT, an important feature manifests during polymer combustion, wherein a dense barrier carbon layer is formed on the surface of K100. This layer serves a crucial purpose by providing excellent heat insulation and isolation properties. It effectively enhances the polymer's tensile strength, bending strength, modulus, and various other mechanical properties. Additionally, OMMT elevates the thermal deformation temperature of the polymer and improves its resistance to dripping.
For flame retardant treatment needs, OMMT is a suitable option for products such as PP, PE, PS, EPDM, EVA, and other compatible materials.
